Make a garment repair note

Describe the problem and photograph the area before working. Read the care label and look at how the surrounding seam or fastening is constructed.

List the materials you may need and identify anything unfamiliar. Delicate, valuable or structurally complicated garments may deserve professional advice.

Keep the note with the garment until the repair is complete. Record the method used so you can assess it after the garment has been worn again.
